Tuesday

Good Evening ~
its night time here in indy, and its been a lovely evening. A lot of times i feel like i have a lot of things to do, even if they're silly non-essential things; but tonight was easy breezy! Arrived home from work, and just enjoyed the night. Talked with bryan, ran to barnes and noble, and watched a great new law and order based on myspace :) and now ive made a summertime treat for dessert - diet orange soda with vanilla ice cream - so good!

Big news from work today - after almost 7 months of working fulltime sans benefits or paid vacation, i finally got it! whoohoo. i was so excited to look over my insurance options! and paid vacation days! seriously - what a neat concept. it makes me feel a lot better, remotivated to do a good job where i am, and a lot less grumpy and stressy about things having to do with phrases like "buying your own insurance."

So tonight Bryan and i get to talk about our summer trip coming up, i get to write a bday card and happy anniversary card to some friends of mine and mail them to different sides of the country - maine and seattle.. and read some more of my book. its hot here and humid, feeling like early summer. . . .

Five Senses Friday

A friend of mine, who sadly doesnt post as much as she used to (she has so many other new exciting things going on in her life that keep her busy!) started doing this every now and then and i loved to read about all the different senses swirling around. So here's my own version of five senses friday. As i expected, its dead here today at work, and i am waiting for that time when i can log off and head for home....

Taste:
Homemade Blueberry Muffins, extra good in the morning
tall Soy Hazelnut Hot Chocolate: not quite sure of this one yet, but it was interesting
apple - a little past its prime i think..
cupcakes - for a friends birthday celebration!
Corn on the Cob - perfecting our grilling techniques and time..

Sight:
Gorgeous green trees in little "islands" in the middle of corn fields - i love those
sparkling green skirt on a lady here at the museum
tons of flip flops - its really sunny today..
lightening bugs - they're here again!
Milo asleep on the floor at the foot of our bed - he has learned how to open bedroom doors and will now come in and sleep with us, whether we want him there or not!

Hear:
Milo barking at the shower when it gets turned off
The typing and whirring of keyboards here at work
Dinosuar growls - another benefit of my fun work place
jonatha brook - my morning sing along to work
alarm clock - too loud..

Smell:
clean towel
orange mint toothpaste
peach face wash
coffee grinds
mango/mandarin lotion

Touch:
Frisbees to throw
garden Hose
the boy
corduroy pants
little clay sheep

What are you seeing, tasting, and touching today?

Its Official: I'm Official!

I realized just the other day that its been about a year now since I moved from Washington D.C. to Indiana - and just the other day, i went and got my Indiana license plates - que exciting! They're pretty; a little blue and green farm scene, but coming from work last week guess what i saw in front of me ---- the beautiful and majestic Mount Rainier on a Washington State plate! i felt like pulling up along side the guy and saying "im from washington too!" and for some reason that would make us best friends :) i hadnt really planned out my strategy beyond that initial proclamation but im sure it would have been followed with something inane and dorky.

No run for me this morning, i am soo lazy, i guess it will have to be tonight then! Instead I will breakfast on these yummy looking treats I made last night, though i seem to have gotten carried away with "sprinkling" suger on the top.

Hopefully i will be able to sneak out of work early today, it is friday after all, the friday before a long weekend, and a super important one here in indy, so i think all those factors will work in my favor. Im anticipatory - my bridesmaid dress for my brothers wedding got delivered to the post office last night and i got one of those teasing cards that says "we have a package for you - come pick it up!" i cant wait to try it on and see how it looks..

Our Little Family

I was trying to make this so it would be my picture icon, but I'm not yet that talented of a bloggy missy. So here's a visual image of us here in Avon, Indiana, taken at Christmas time (can you believe it - no snow!) The handsome boy to my left is bryan and the handsome four legged scourge in front of me is Milo. Missing in action is our other four legged beasty - fargus the cat, a slippery, independent male sort, who only does things on his own bidding, which posing for group photos is apparently not one of!

Starting off Again

So here I am again, giving blogging a third (or fourth) chance...I go back and forth with it so much. On the one hand, i can't ever get past the feeling that really, who cares what I feel, think, see on a daily basis, etc. It also feels awfully open, that if i wanted to do this "right" and make it interesting, i would have to be really talking, thinking, and typing a relative stream of conscience and that makes me a bit nervous. However, as much as I've sat with these two inhibitors, i am more and more impressed with the words and thoughts of so many other bloggers out there, friend or otherwise! i spend so much time reading them, peeking in on friends lives from afar, or reading recipes, fashion critiques, book reviews, etc. that i wanted very much to join this group and find a way to journal a bit of my days and thoughts with people that are close to me but far away.
so hurray for third attempts!

I'm actually at work right now (! oy) but its a slow day and I'm trying to tick off the hours before I'm free to go home. Bryan and i managed to rev ourselves out of bed early this morning (we've been trying to do this for a week or so now) and did our daily run in the early morning hour --- much nicer in my opinion, since its already getting hot and humid here in the evening in preparation for summer. Running in the early morning when there was still a bit of a chill is nicer for all of us, although Bryan is challenging to talk out of bed that early. Milo on the other hand, is up and at 'em, putting the rest of us to shame.

Big bookend weekends for us here - last weekend my dad was out for a short visit. in just 2.5 days we managed to construct a clothesline AND tour covered bridges... we also fit in there a viewing of the Suns getting eliminated and some old school submarine action in "hunt for the red October." This weekend coming up my good friend that goes by the nickname Sattarnillasskorn is going to be in town - along with everyone else for the INdy 500! it will be great to see her; i've already got sex in the city season 1 waiting for our viewing pleasure

tonight i think i will make some blueberry muffins, from my gma's recipe. who knows though, im always a little overly optimistic about things when im at work. i make lists that are long and impossible to accomplish all the time, especially at work. but i like cooking muffins, it makes me feel quaint and domestic, and i have a perfect new apron to bake in...
