Bountiful

I love payday. i love it for all the reasons that everyone else does, but i also love it because it means i can go to the grocery store and shop with just a little more abandon than i normally would do. one of my favorite things to do is really stock up the kitchen - fresh fruit, different kinds of meat, sandwich makings, meal plans for the next couple days. At first bryan and i were pretty bad at making it all get used, but ive pared back a bit, and we're trying harder to use what we have - it becomes like sort of contest to see what kind of meal we can pull together out of the remnants in the fridge.

i also love grocery stores - love them! and i am a complete and total sucker for any kind of "different" grocery store. Silly, but true, i have driven out of my way to go to a certain store, whose "feel" i like better than the ones close to home. But i must say, i am quite taken with our little kroger store by our house. im reconizing all the people there, the teenage baggers and stern deli ladies, and i know where most things are - a huge thing in grocery store familiarity and love! So while it may not be Whole Foods or PCC, it'll do just fine :)

letting it be

"When I want you to be some other way than you actually are, I suffer. You suffer. The more I can let the moment, the situation, the nap, the house, be exactly as it is... there is so much more room for joy. These are big lessons for the adult humans of the world."

Projects at Home

Only 5 more hours until the weekend. I can't wait. We've got a couple projects on our plate around the house, and this weekend I'm looking forward to puttering/working on the house, catching up on all the things we've let go over the past couple weeks.

Maybe I'll get some of these things done:
Finish painting our bedroom - I've done two walls, but i need to finish the other two, which involve moving our bed (ug.) It will be nice though, to finish and have a fresh coat of paint to brighten everything up. We've decided on white and yellow ( a nice compliment to our green bathroom) so it will be cheery and comforting inside, even on rainy days.

Order a new blind(s) for our bedroom and/or the living room. We have these old ones, that are fine i suppose, but they're from the 80's im sure, and are plastic crinkly and strange. I had in mind some nice fabric that would hang over the window but the let the sun filter through. I suppose if i was at all efficiant at the sewing machine, this would something i could easily do. But im not, and it would prob. take me 8 years to do, so in the name of checking projects off and not taking on more than i can handle, i'll probably order some instead.

Find a set of hooks to hang by the sliding door to hang our keys etc. on. We always drop our "stuff" onto the kitchen counter and i was thinking it might look nice to have something to hang things on, or a nice table of some sort by the door to place the mail and maybe a bowl on for our things. hmm, i will think about this and figure out what will work best. there's lots of garage sales this weekend, this would be a perfect place to find a unique and random piece..

Finish painting the trim on the windows outside. We primed them a long time ago and now really need to get them painted so we can open the windows and let the fresh air in!

And of course, i have all the other little things i want to do: vacuum, write letters, sleep in, eat something scumptious. I think we're going to make coconut curry chicken tonight - I'll buy the ingriendiants and Bryan will cook.
We're cool like that :)

middle of the week already!

Hello! Ack! I know i said i was going to do such a good job with posting and the last two + weeks seem to have just swept by so fast! Wednesday night already, late here in Indianapolis.

we got home tonight to find a huge box on our front porch ( i love getting packages - who doesn't?) and the best part was to find inside Milo's year supply of Frisbees! Last year bryan found a website and ordered 50 Frisbees that were printed with mistake logos on them so they were really cheap - milo didn't seem to mind the less than perfect wording- he loved the 50 Frisbees until they couldn't fly anymore. it was getting bad around here - entering June with only 2 Frisbees that were still aerodynamically functional. so this year, bryan surprised us by ordering 100! and frost bite ones at that! so exciting...

The other day, i also got a devastatingly wonderful package from my good friend in Maine of all places - kristen kamp. . .. she sent this great cd that arrived with tons of great music that has been keeping me company on the way to work ever since. Ive got it stuck on tracks 15 and 16 by a girl named JayMay - have you heard of her? the cd was great - i love it when there's a title of a song and a band, and the only description being " devastatingly handsome banjo.guitar player from pittsburgh." i mean really, can a song synopsis get much better than that? :)

the past few weeks, as Ive mentioned before, have been full of visitors..we love it but i also cant wait to just lay on my bed, perhaps in the middle of the day and take a cat nap! with nothing to do! on our weekend to do list is the lovely task of hanging a hammock on our screened in porch (kamper - was that on our non negotiables list?!) and transplant some flowers and plants from little baby containers to the ground. really i have a million other things that i feel like i could do, but those will take the precedent over all others.

I've included some pictures above to show all our great friends and family who've been in town for the month of may.. enjoy :)

And last but not least - Kamper - Happy Birthday! I've been meaning to do a birthday post for you but i don't have any digital pictures! so i guess this birthday with will have to suffice for the time being until i see you next and i can fill the memory card to the gills!

Friday

I cant believe the week has flown by as fast as it has! or that it is a new month - i have been lazy with posting this week, mainly because i wanted to download pictures from my friends visit and create a nice word synopsis to go with. but i guess that will come after this weekend :)

My mom (hurray!) is visiting this weekend, and so im sure it will be a lovely one. I was able to get the house in order, and bryan picked her up right on time yesterday at the indianapolis international airport!!!!!! (would you believe we have oen!!??) we brought in the night with a barbeque of gourmet hamburgers (hats off to chef bryan) and other treats. tonight on the agenda is tiring out the doggy so we can take mom to a indianapolis indians minor baseball league game. its supposed to rain all weekend, so we thought tonight it would be a good time to take her and at the same time, show her the city. i love this little baseball field. its sort of like a minurature version of safeco field - sitting right downtown on the canal, and with lots of green grass to sit in. its always best to sit in the green, then you can watch the game AND all the kids rolling around and getting grass stains. its a really fun way to spend the evening.

i hope you all have a wonderful weekend. any special plans?
